A little more about us:
MB films are David Mead and Ed Beck are film makers based in the UK. They have been working together since 2002, and met during filming school at the Surrey Institute of Art Design in Farnham. Since then they have collaborated on a wide range of projects throughout the UK and across the world. They also have a large network of talented freelance editors and camera people who regularly collaborate with them.
David Mead:
David is an award-winning filmmaker and has worked in the industry for over 15 years after graduating from a Film and Video Production in 2003.
David has extensive knowledge and experience with all post-production aspects of filmmaking, and his work includes making documentaries, educational and promotional videos, corporate films and commercials as well as being on-site Editor at events and live shows.
Notable clients include: Pearson Education, Pfizer, Radio Times, Shell, Hotpoint, Ladbrokes, Google and numerous book publishers including David Fickling Books and Penguin Random House.
David has also created, directed and edited numerous short films. His commercial ‘Cycle of Life’ won Best in Overall and Best in Brief at the prestigious Kodak Student Commercial Awards and his commercial ‘Samba Goals’ won the Audience Awards at eDIT|VES Film Festival in Germany. He has had a number of films selected and screened at film festivals in the UK, Europe and USA. Short films ‘Prisoner of War’ and ‘F-Stop’ screened at Palm Springs International Short Film Festival and ‘Spirit of the House’ at Raindance, London.
Ed Beck:
Ed Beck graduated from film school in 2003 specialising in cinematography. In that same year his commercial, ‘Cycle of Life’ won best in brief and best overall commercial at the Kodak Student Commercial awards. Since then Ed has developed a unique style and approach to lighting and camera work whilst understanding the importance of storytelling. Ed Beck has had various experience in commercials, short films, promos, documentaries and live events.
Ed has shot TV commercials for Radio Times and filmed high end branded content for brands such as Lego, Volkswagen, Seat, Hienz and BBC good food. He also specialises in food photography and works as a cameraman on TV shows with chefs such as James Martin and Ainsley Harriott.
He has a range of experience working in recording studios such as Abbey Road and Air Studios in London. The projects vary with composers and Orchestras and include a ‘behind the scenes making of’ for Warner Bros ‘Shazam’ and a look at how the music is made for Dr Who, on BBC.
David together with Ed have filmed short films and documentaries which have been part of the official selection for Palm Spring international Film Festival in California and Raindance in London.
